...out of time

Photobucket

It's almost fifty years since this picture was taken. I wonder what Ena Sharples would think of her Street now, fifty years later. Homosexuals, transexuals, and coloured folk too! The past really is a foreign country. Corrieblog say of the fantastic picture above: "The photograph appears on the back of H.V. Kershaw's book The Street Where I Live and shows Ena Sharples standing on the balcony of a towerblock, looking down onto the Victorian terraces below. This photo is very striking and for me it epitomises Coronation Street of the 1960s - old meeting new. Ena is confined to the balcony, trapped by the glass and metal of this new 'street in the sky'. The height of the block and the distance that Ena is from the world below only amplifies the isolation that I assume many people of her generation felt as the communities they had always known were flattened around them. Brilliant." more...out of time

hey where did all your sidebars go.....

Oh no... don't say that Dusty.

I was tinkering with the template last night. It looks fine in Internet Explorer.

Can you see the side bars anywhere, further down the page for example? What broswer are you using?

GGRRRR actually I just looked at the blog on Firefox and I can see what you're seeing. All the sidebars are at the bottom of the page.

Hmm... Dunno what to do about that right now. Any ideas?

I increased the size of the post area. I guess I need to either reduce it or increase the overall wrapper, but that would mean a horizontal scrollbar.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I HATE HTML!!!
