Here's a sight guaranteed to break the heart of any soap fan: Brookside Close overgrown and gone to wrack and ruin. Unlike the (albeit real-looking) exteriors for EastEnders and Coronation Street, Brookside was filmed on a real cul-de-sac, in brand new houses bought for the show. When the show ended in 2003 - after more than 21 years on air - the houses were put up for sale. None have ever been sold.
