For Thanksgiving, here is John Ford’s Oscar winning Best Picture about the life of a Welsh coal mining family; How Green Was My Valley (1941).
Led by a brilliant child performance by Roddy McDowell and starring Walter Pidgeon, Maureen O’Hara, Oscar nominated Sarah Allgood as the mother and an Oscar winning Supporting actor award to Donald Crisp as the a father, it’s a nostalgic, gloriously sentimental testament to family life as only Ford could make them.
