Simmering hostility and prejudices boil over in Mathieu Kassovitz’s provocative and compelling portrait of a Parisian housing project.

Set in the aftermath of a riot, three friends – Vinz (Vincent Cassell), Hubert (Hubert Koundè) and Saïd (Saïd Taghmaoui) – trapped by their economic, ethnic and community circumstances, navigate the escalating urban discontent. But, with tensions still high and the threat of violence ever-present, the trio drift towards an increasingly dangerous destiny.

Newly restored in 4K, La Haine’s scalding take on France’s social divide still carries a knockout punch. Beautifully shot in black and white by Pierre Aïm, this mid-1990s landmark remains as fresh and relevant 25 years on from its original release.   BFI

Life just drifts by for corporate lawyer Marius (Eimutis Kvosciauskas)... until he finds an unexpected connection with the dark and handsome Ali (Dogac Yildiz), an incredibly attractive young Syrian refugee who makes his living as a sex-cam worker. After Marius's estranged father passes away, his infatuation intensifies. It isn’t long before he’s completely obsessed. He inevitably flies to Belgrade to meet Ali with in person, in hopes of a romantic week with his sexy Arab prince. Although, off-camera, things might not be exactly as they seemed.

An intense romantic drama, The Lawyer is the newest film from prolific filmmaker Romas Zabarauskas, the same writer-director behind Porno Melodrama and You Can’t Escape Lithuania.

After his mother’s sudden death, Socrates, a 15-year-old living on the margins of São Paulo’s coast, must survive on his own. As he faces isolation because of his sexuality, his search for a decent, worthy life reaches a breaking point.

Socrates is the debut feature film from Brazilian - American director Alexandre Moratto. It is the first feature produced by the Querô Institute in Brazil where it was co-written, produced, and acted by at-risk teenagers from local low-income communities, with the support of UNICEF.
