Westworld

Film
Skool

In 1973, novelist-turned-filmmaker Michael Crichton made his directorial debut with Westworld, a groundbreaking fusion of science fiction and action-thriller that would prove decades ahead of its time, laying the groundwork for his later hit Jurassic Park and changing the face of sci-fi. Welcome to Delos, the futuristic resort where, for $1,000 a day, wealthy vacationers can live out their wildest fantasies in hyper-realistic theme parks.

In the Old West zone, friends Peter (Richard Benjamin) and John (James Brolin) saddle up for adventure, unaware that their dream holiday is about to turn into a nightmare. When a malfunction sends the park’s android hosts off script, the Gunslinger (Yul Brynner, in his iconic black-clad role) begins a relentless pursuit, obliterating the line between simulation and survival.

Slick, suspenseful, and eerily prescient, Westworld combines a gripping man-versus-machine chase with thought-provoking questions about technology, control, and the price of playing God. Packed with atmosphere and memorable performances, this cult classic remains a landmark in genre cinema – a high-tech nightmare that never loses its bite.

Stolen Face

Film
Skool

Before Hammer’s Gothic era, Fisher crafted a tense psychological thriller about identity, desire, and the moral cost of reshaping another person. Lizabeth Scott delivers a mesmerizing dual performance as both the elegant musician who rejects a surgeon’s advances and the criminal he recreates in her image. Paul Henreid navigates obsession and responsibility, while André Morell adds a slow-burning unease, driving the film into emotionally charged noir territory.

Now restored in 4K from the original negatives, Stolen Face arrives on UHD and Blu-ray for the first time, featuring both UK and US cuts, new commentary tracks, archival reflections, and special features exploring Scott’s career, the film’s sexual politics, and the history of plastic surgery in cinema.

A landmark early Hammer film, ready to be rediscovered.

Rodney Harvey

Film
Skool

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Rodney Harvey was discovered by the director Paul Morrissey in 1984, who cast him in Mixed Blood (1984), and later, and Spike of Bensonhurst (1988). Harvey dropped out of high school after the 11th grade and moved to Los Angeles, where he continued acting. Bruce Webber lensed him for Life magazine, in a layout featuring Madonna, and he flirted with River Phoenix in Andy Warhol's Interview magazine.

It was during the making of My Own Private Idaho, that Harvey began using heroin. Several stints in jail - and attempts to get clean - followed, before he died of a heroin and cocaine overdose on 11 April 1998, at the Hotel Barbizon in Los Angeles.

Following his death, photos of Harvey in the depths of heroin addiction appeared in a harrowing Office of Drug Control Policy (Partnership for a Drug-Free America) public service announcement. He made his last onscreen appearance in the drama God's Lonely Man (1996).

The Apartment

Film
Skool
In 1960, following the success of their collaboration on Some Like it Hot, director Billy Wilder (Ace in the Hole, Sunset Boulevard) reteamed with actor Jack Lemmon (Grumpy Old Men) for what many consider the pinnacle of their respective careers: The Apartment.

C.C. Bud Baxter (Lemmon) is a lowly Manhattan office drone with a lucrative sideline in renting out his apartment to adulterous company bosses and their mistresses. When Bud enters into a similar arrangement with the firm's personnel director, J.D. Sheldrake (Fred MacMurray, The Caine Mutiny), his career prospects begin to look up... and up. But when he discovers that Sheldrake's mistress is Fran Kubelik (Shirley MacLaine, Irma la Douce), the girl of his dreams, he finds himself forced to choose between his career and the woman he loves...

Winner of five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, The Apartment features a wealth of Hollywood's finest talent on both sides of the camera at the top of their game. By turns cynical, heart-warming and hilarious, Wilder's masterpiece now shines like never before in this stunning 4K UHD presentation.
