Ralph Richardson, Michele Morgan and the amazing child actor Bobby Henrey star in Carol Reed’s version of Graham Greene’s suspense classic The Fallen Idol (1948).

Also starring Sonia Dresdel as the terrifying housekeeper Mrs. Baines, this story deals with the love between a butler and a little boy in an embassy in London and the complications that arise when the child begins to believe his friend the butler may be murderer. The suspense is taut, brilliantly written by Greene and directed by Carol Reed, in what would be a trilogy of suspense films that began with Odd Man Out (1947) and ended The Third Man (1949). It also contains one of the greatest performances by a child ever shot. You’ll be on the edge of your seat throughout this suspense classic! Steve Hayes
