LENSED: IMAGE IS EVERYTHING
THE EUROPEAN INDOOR Athletics Championships results were playing in the background earlier today.
Suddenly Mel, my partner in crime, cried out, "Since when do black people do pole-vaulting?" (He's Zimbabwean, he's allowed to say things like that.)
My knowledge of sport is limited to important facts such as: sprinters have huge thighs, and gymnasts have tiny waists. So the fact that a black guy was pole vaulting didn't strike me as newsworthy, but I'm assured it's unusual.
Athletics is the one sport I do take a passing interest in, and here's one of the reasons why. That pole vaulter, in case you haven't seen him before, is Alhaji Jeng, born in Gambia in 1981 and a resident of Sweden since he was 3 months old.
Alhaji Jeng - pole vaulting is my new favourite sport.
Oh, mercy!!!

I dated a track dude once. He was a triple jumper at the University of Tennessee. Mr. Jeng's legs remind me of his. LAWDAMERCY!!!!
