NEWS TODAY THAT makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, and proud to be British.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown has unequivocally voiced his disapproval of California's Proposition 8: "This attempt to undo good that has been done is unacceptable." He continued by saying, "This shows why we have always got to be vigilant, always got to fight homophobic behaviour and any form of discrimination."
That isn't a statement you're likely to hear from the lips of a political leader in the US - not even from Barack Obama, lest he upset the religious nuts (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on that).
And Props (ha ha - geddit it?) to Mr Brown for not couching his support with "howevers".
The news follows the banning by the Home Office of American cleric Fred Phelps, whose Westboro Baptist church had planned on protesting a performance of The Laramie Project.

It's good to know there's some good sense somewhere in the world.
ReplyDeleteAMAZING how everyone else can see this but America...
ReplyDeleteFinally! The Prime Minister has done something we can be proud of! After helping to bring us into a recession and an awful speech in the states the other day, it's good to see that Mr Brown can be outspoken over something like this.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the state of California will see sense like Brown has and understand what this law actually means to the gay community.
The more I see the hatred homosexuals have towards Christians and the Holy Bible the more I think Fred Phelps is right. How many straight children have been molested and murdered by homosexuals? A lot. How many Christians have been assaulted by homosexuals because they didn't like the way they voted? A lot. How many Christian churches have been burned down by homosexuals because you disagree with the Holy Bible? A lot.
ReplyDeleteWhatever you think, you will not be able to change God's Word and will one day have to pay the price for not believing what God has written.
Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
How many homosexuals have been beaten by straights just for being gay? A lot. How many Chirstians call gay people names like "faggot", "sinner" etc etc? A lot. How may gay people have been bullied at school and discriminated against at work for being gay? A lot. How many people have been killed for being gay? A lot. Are you getting my drift??
ReplyDeleteThank you for your valuble input, Rev. Spitz.
ReplyDeleteHowever, you appear to have made at least one factual error. Homosexuals are also busily molesting and murdering gay children too - not just straight children.
I haven't yet burned down any Christian churches, but thanks for the idea. I'll put it to the board.
Gen 6:5,7 "Because of man's wickedness God destroys him"
or
Gen 8:21 "Because of man's wickedness God will not destroy him"
Gee, I just don't know what to think, so many contradictions!
Like:
Ex 3:21,22/ Ex 12:35,36 "Robbery commanded"
Lev 19:13/ Ex 20:15 "Robbery forbidden"
Josh 2:4-6/ James 2:25/ Ex 1:18-20/ 1 Kings 22:21,22 "Lying approved and sanctioned"
Ex 20:16/ Prov 12:22/ Rev 21:8 "Lying forbidden"
Ex 32:27 "Killing commanded"
Ex 20:13 "Killing forbidden"
Gen 9:5,6 "The blood-shedder must die"
Gen 4:15 "The blood-shedder must not die"
Ex 20:4 "The making of images forbidden"
Ex 25:18,20 "The making of images commanded"
Gen 9:25/ Lev 25:45,46/ Joel 3:8 "Slavery and oppression ordained"
Is 58:6/ Ex 22:21/ Ex 21:16/ Matt 23:10 "Slavery and oppression forbidden"
etc etc etc
(there's a hundred more examples, but you get the picture...)
I know of no churches burnt down by gay people, but then I also know of no talking snakes. Maybe that's my problem; I require some evidence for what I believe.
ReplyDeleteAs for child abuse, the church carries the biggest burden of shame by far.
BTW, Spitz made a similar rant on the "Christians For Equality" blog last month. The responses are worth reading.

@ the rev ..God's word? Really? You believe that the Bible you quote from comes directly from God? To believe that the Bible has come from God, completely unpolluted by man's agenda is foolish.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, its Christians like the rev that remind me how hypocritical some are, and try as they might to make it seem like they're living righteously they're really not.
